Well as far as I can see there is nothing significantly wrong with his game that I have seen lately. He is serving better than ever and as far as return of serve, one of the top three. At times it's almost annoying to see him attempt to retrieve a ball that you are sure he can not make and then he makes it into the other court for a point. He slides on a hard court as if it were clay and stretches into unbelieveable positions to hit the ball back to turn defense into offense. What do you have to do to beat this guy? I don't know and neither do most of the other ATP players. He does have bad days like everyone else but you better be playing at the top of your game even then.
Congratulations to Novak Djokovic winning the ATP World Tour Finals for three straight years and ending the year as number one again!
What does Simona Halep have to do to get the American press to appreciate her talent on the tennis court? Let's see Simona won 7 titles in 2013, was a finalist at Roland Garros this year, had more success in 2014. Oh yes and she beat Serena Williams in their first match at the World Finals! I first watched Simona play early in 2013, before she had won any WTA titles and could see the she was a terrific player with lots of potential. Simona quickly became my favorite female player with great court coverage and controlled aggression, not to mention terrific down the line shots and placement. Her interviews are honest and refreshing with humor and charm. Simona is always looking to improve her game and has managed to do so.
The media has for some reason ignored Simona Halep. Watching on TV her matches were almost completely ignored even when she was 5 in the world and recently 3 and 2. Many times Rennae Stubbs of Tennis Channel would make note of how Simona was being snubbed by the media.
In a hard fought battle Gilles Simon of France could not withstand the expertise of Roger Federer!
The match was very close and at times it looked like Simon would come out on top but Roger Federer was relentless. Federer's use of well placed serves, slices, drop shots and his usual backhand was too much for Simon as he went down in two tiebreakers 7-6, 7-6.
