The Unforntunate News About Simona Halep
Simona Halep has been struggling as of late and I wondered why she was off her game. Not moving as well for long matches, not walking with her usual sexy strut and missing the fire that one usually sees in her. Well the truth has finally come out, Simona has been suffering from a string of viruses affecting multiple parts of her body as described in her following quote from Melbourne, Australia: Simona Halep revealed Sunday that she needs nose surgery and will be out of action until at least March, missing Romania’s Fed Cup tie next week.
Halep, my favorite female player and ranked No. 2 in the world, was eliminated from the Australian Open in the first round last week.
“The last six weeks have been extremely difficult for me, as I’ve been dealing with infections in my stomach, nose and ear,” she remarked on her official Facebook page.
“This has been one of my most frustrating periods, as I’ve not been able to train or stay healthy even though I’ve constantly been on antibiotics to help clear the infections.
“I gave it my best shot in Australia but, with the infections still in my body, unfortunately I made things worse, as I pushed myself to compete and fight in a Grand Slam.
“Under doctors’ advice, I will undergo surgery to fix the ongoing problem with my nose — and I’ve been advised that this is my best option and success is highly likely.”
“It comes with great sadness that I’m announcing that I will need to miss our upcoming Fed Cup tie next week, as I will be undergoing surgery this week,” she said. “I’m hopeful that I will have recovered in time to have a chance to defend my title in Indian Wells.
We all hope Simona has an excellent recovery. You are missed every day.

In the round...Winning the Family Circle Cup
Trying to win the Family Circle Cup Championship was not an easy task. Madison Keys and Angelique Kerber battled it out for three sets. Both players were going for their first championship of 2015, first clay court title, and first American title. The first set went to Kerber 6-2 with Keys producing lots of unforced errors. After a coaching visit in the second set Keys came back from a 4-1 deficit to a 4-6 second set win. The third set went back and forth with Keys seeming close to victory but the in the end Kerber forcing errors and making some nice winners taking it 7-5 in the third set. Kerber is ranked 14 on the WTA and should move up at least one or two spots after the victory. Madison Keys was ranked 17 on the WTA.
The new rankings are out and Angelique Kerber stayed at 14 with 2865, while Lucie Safarova holds 13 with 2870 and Karolina Pliskova 12 with 2875. Those are some very narrow margins!
